Every trade-off in quality will add weight and cost. There are very few exceptions. Possibly the simplest thing we don't do is run cars lean the way 90s civic smog boxes were, but it's because NOx is actually a pain in the ass for urban areas, which means every city becomes Chinese smog fest and every highway a smog factory. Cars just are not the way to build a society if you want durability, and I love cars. Maybe a situation where we use more trains and people drive their car onto the train in lieu of highway driving and get off at the hub destination.

If we ever get self driving cars then it would be a huge savings because most people park there car at home or at work where it just sits there for 8 to 12 hours a day. A self driving car would be able to facilitate daily travel for multiple families reducing how many overall vehicles a community needed. Same goes for the trucking industry even team drives wouldn't be able to compete or at least not for long.

@blankdeblank People don't respect things that aren't theirs. Some peoples are particularly bad at this, as we all know.

I think uber already has reviews for passengers as well. The motor industry would just offer taxi service and cars would just be out of reach for the average joe. Nicer cars would be more expensive also willing to share a car with other people could cut your fair.
