Cursed: the evil "Allow websites to perform privacy-preserving ad measurement" exists in Firefox mobile not just desktop, but the UI to disable it is not present on mobile.

If you're using mainline mobile Firefox that blocks access to about:config, you need to use the roundabout way to get to it:

    chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml

Then find dom.private-attribution.submission.enabled and change it to false.

How many people are unwillingly participating in Mozilla/Anonym's unethical tracking program because they're on mobile and the setting to opt out is hidden???

This needs to be a huge scandal and they need to fix it.

Also: we need a test site you can visit that shows if your browser has this malicious functionality enabled.

@dalias TIL that mobile Firefox indeed does not display about:config. Tried your method and found that the value is set to "false" for me by default (Firefox on Android, from the google play store). Not sure why, but I figure that's good news.

@moritz_negwer I think the default migrated from some other privacy setting when it was introduced, so it's probably true on new installs or for users who didn't previously have locked down privacy settings.

@dalias I run 130beta1, and about:config works. But the regular 130.0.1 AND Firefox Focus 131 lock it out, which is annoying.

Blokada 5 works very well in this circumstance.

@moritz_negwer @dalias Firefox has been hiding the about:config by default on mobile for years now, and it's always annoyed tf out of me.

Luckily, privacy tweaked forks of Firefox mobile, like Mull from @divested, exist with about:config enabled again by default (plus with dom.private-attribution.submission.enabled disabled!)

@dalias it defaults to false on mobile, no one on mobile has this set true unless they've manually changed it https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/source/modules/libpref/init/StaticPrefList.yaml#3513

@catsalad @moritz_negwer @dalias @divested it's rather funny they block it when IIRC even SailfishOS browser (qt mozembed, which Jolla has to maintain themselves…) supports about:config.
