     The BRICS group currently consists of nine countries:

     Original Members:
     Brazil
     Russian Federation
     India
     China
     South Africa

     New Members since January 1, 2024:
     Egypt
     Ethiopia
     Iran
     United Arab Emirates

     Other countries like Saudi Arabia and Turkey are also considering joining.

     The group is now also referred to as BRICS+ and represents almost 45% of the world's population and nearly 36% of global economic output.

     @mk there's only two countries that actually matter in brics: China and India and they're effectively in a state of war with each other. If you want to count Russia, they'll never agree on common interests rates with China either.
     It was all null and void from the start.

     BRICS has given themselves the option of using other currencies, but they still use the dollar for most transactions. Probably because ours is so easy to counterfeit.

     the winning condition for brics is to break the $usd monopoly and have the market decide on the medium of exchange.

     because this way the usa can't keep printing money and make all global $usd users pay for it via inflation.

     how is this different with fiatmoney $usd? the usa empire has been printing the shit out of it in the past 50years and it lost more than 98% of it's purchasing power to gold.

     yes.. you use fiatmoney only for quick trades and then get back into actual stuff that hold value.

     this is not a new concept.

     @magicalthinking @mk that's because, logically, when I have currency A and you have currency B and we're trading with each other, you'll only accept from me the amount of my currency that matches the value of whatever you might want to buy from me later on. Anything more would be just worthless paper because only I see it as legal currency.
     That's a simple concept, but them people's who think that bricks is actually a thing in real life seem not to comprehend.

     @mk @magicalthinking it's not different at all. The thing is tho that when it comes to USD, you more or less know the state of the US economy, you know how many dollars are in circulation, so you can estimate the value of your dollars.
     Now so much when it comes to anything depending on Yuan, because China doesn't publish data, everything's hash hash, and on top of that the exchange rate of Yuan is set by CCP decree instead of that of a market. See the fundamental no-go there, I hope
