      Quaker groups file suit over the end of policy restricting ICE arrests in houses of worship
      from NBCNews
      The suit appears to be the first from a faith-based organization challenging the change in court.

      @VATVSLPR @GottaLaff It feels like some context could help here. Quakers were early abolitionists and participated in the underground railroad -- an instance of protecting human beings who were not supported by the law at the time. They are an entirely different group of people than the Catholics, Evangelicals and Megachurch weirdos who refuse to keep children safe from their elders.

      When it comes to protecting pedophiles, churches seem to be above the law; protecting the indigent, not so much.

      @baconandcoconut @GottaLaff
      I understand who the Quakers are. My point is the government seems to let religious groups get away with a lot when they're abusing defenseless people but not when they're protecting them. I realize it isn't the same churches doing the abusing and defending.
