   I could make a GBA game and give it to a publisher to publish, that is a possible thing I could do. But it would probably take more than a year to see any money and dealing with a publisher means you have to follow their rules.

     @matrix @sun not true, there's a bunch of kickstarters that come out every year of people making new physical retro releases
     
     and things like https://modretro.com/collections/games being funded as a billionaires side hobby
     
     it's possible to make a game, but it's not a rent paying grift

     @sun @i @matrix The model I've seen is to release the game on modern platforms, but then also sell a retro cartridge for those who want it. That is the release strategy for the new angry video game nerd nes game.
