     The fruit is extremely nutrient dense but most especially the peel. The peel contains pectins, ellagitannins, B-carotene, phenolic acids, flavonoids and anthocyanins. It has significantly higher anthocyanins than blackberries and grapes and is being tested to develop new cancer drugs because it was shown to completely reduce H202-induced mortality in fibroblast cells.
