@gou Netflix donates a lot of money to the Dems. If people want to stop Trump/Musk, they need to boycott the companies who empower republicans. Dem representatives have vowed to block all Trump executive orders but right now they are a minority. We need more democratic representatives in Congress and senate to block Trump/Musk agenda and impeach/remove them.

The fruit is extremely nutrient dense but most especially the peel. The peel contains pectins, ellagitannins, B-carotene, phenolic acids, flavonoids and anthocyanins. It has significantly higher anthocyanins than blackberries and grapes and is being tested to develop new cancer drugs because it was shown to completely reduce H202-induced mortality in fibroblast cells.

I will also explore underutilized edible #nativeplants in the southeastern US and how to cook and preserve them.

We had several days of temperatures in the 70s (21C+) and a few native fruit plants started leafing out: elderberry, currants. The blueberries look like they want to bloom.

Native plants that stayed put: hazelnuts, serviceberries, bramble berries, persimmons, plums, pawpaws.

And all my overwintering poppies germinated. 😭😭😭

To make leaf powder: Leaves, stems and tops of plant should be dried in a cool dark place so the leaves don’t blanch. It takes a day or so. Then grind them into a powder using a clean spice grinder.

Store in a glass airtight jar in a cool dark place. It keeps well so this is an economical way to preserve and enjoy greens in winter.

(The powder will cling to the sides from static if storing in plastic.)
