Democrats: Fight for the poor and underserved in red states. Don't get credit.
The poor in red states: Benefit from Dem's infrastructure bill, healthcare bill, and inflation reduction bill. Don't feel the harm caused by those they vote for. Don't change their vote.
Rinse. Repeat.
Voting has consequences. If people can F around and never find out because others bail them out, they just keep Fing around (and we get more Trumps.)

@mister_shade02X2 @augieray I do agree the Democrats are all we've got at this point, but after giving plenty of my money and noise to elect a pair of Senators, I'm deeply convinced they're not really interested in protecting LGBTQ constituents like me. I don't understand how, after giving what I've given, I'm going to see anything better from giving more. All I know to do is pivot my resources to the legal advocacy groups for my community. Do you have some advice or ideas?

@augieray I understand the Democratic Party isn’t perfect, and never will be.
But I don’t understand refusing to vote, refusing to donate, advocate or volunteer. I don’t understand believing the solution lies in a fictional third party with no political power or infrastructure, that cannot become larger than the Republican prior to the next election.
If people believe the current regime is sliding towards fascism, then they should show up at the opposing party’s door and start pitching in.

@roadriverrail @mister_shade02X2 You have a choice between those who support DEI and implement laws to protect LGBT health versus those who actively seek to destroy them, and you can't tell the difference? I'm just exhausted from people who snipe at a Democrats for not doing EVERYTHING while Republicans are destroying EVERYTHING. None of us get a party that does every single thing we want. We can only support the party that gets closest and vote against the party that harms us.

@augieray @mister_shade02X2 That you reached that from the words written suggests your reading ability is not as you claim, and you chose to take a person's fear, exasperation, powerlessness, and appeal for advice and help and used it to leap to an unfounded conclusion and lash out at someone who has (and continues to) make pretty significant financial donations (at least, significant for someone with bills to pay).

That suggests you think there is no reason to support Democrats because they are just as bade as Republicans. if you, like me, see a difference then you'd continue to fight for and donate to Democrats.

@roadriverrail @mister_shade02X2 You entered my conversation to criticize Dems. You did this in a week when Trump is actively destroying protections for the people you care about. There is no way to NOT be frustrated with people who cast aspersions on Dems given what is occurring in the nation this week. I'm sorry you felt I "lashed out" at you, but if you see what is happening and the thing you think is worth arguing is that "dems are disappointing," we may have no common ground for dialog.

I responded with the absolute truth that the people I have helped elect have thrown me under the bus. It's not abstract disappointment. It's measurable, direct, and done while smiling to my face through their offices' response letters. Note I said "senators" because my rep is better. So, unlike you, I haven't abstracted this to "Democrats". 1/2
