     @coolboymew @Wyatt @Hoss @sun It also needs to not suck to administer. I.e. seamless, well-tested migrations, single binary (not a bunch of Python or PHP trash files), single config file. Basically everything Gitea does.

     XMPP was one of the worst thing I ever used. The server I used had a cert issue once and my account literally never fucking recovered from that issue
     
     I haven't used Matrix but it's not sounding too hot
     
     IRC is cool but it's seriously outdated by now and nobody wants to chat on it anymore and it's a massive ordeal to get normies to hop on
