   The developers at #xiaohongshu are probably working their asses off omg. Not only did they create translation capabilities in 3 days, they just added auto bilingual subtitles right after Capcut was discontinued in the US two days ago. I work in a software co and lemme assure you that kind of speed is INSANE 😆

     @liztai considering this is the greatest imaginable propaganda victory at an up front cost of basically zero, the additional investment to push out the improved features for non-Chinese users must be a bargain, whatever it cost.

     @liztai Kicking off a project used to take months with budgets, senior leadership approval, compiling risk registers, getting team members on board. I guess it must have been a "seat of my pants" style project.

     @stevendrowe they get insanely high salaries. Millions. You don't have to worry about them, that's for sure lol.
     Yeah, that's how it is in China. If you can't keep up, you fall behind because there are others more eager than you. Besides acting there are also promos, variety shows etc. Frankly I don't know how they do it.

     @stevendrowe it's true. Some actors lost their careers as a result as the govt made an example out of them. They don't fool around with tax fraud there. Banker's get jailed too 😆

     @liztai Someone told me that actors get their base salary but some get an additional "under the table" amount to avoid taxes. Some have been caught doing that. Not sure if that's true.

     At least I don't have to send them a tip.

     I saw a show on Viki that was 90 episodes long, I grew up in the UK with just 8-13 episodes per season. I'm pleased they reduced the duration of the seasons.
