If you're using #Ceph as an #S3 compatible object storage, please note that latest versions of the #AWS CLI and SDKs now require data integrity checks via CRC algorithms that Ceph currently does not support.

You need to downgrade to a previous version of these tools if you still want to be able to upload objects.

@slink of Amazon users, for sure. It's not always an easy decision to make, if you want to make progress. It's important to remember that this is a de facto standard, not an official one. Amazon is free to make changes to their products as they see fit.

@theuni @slink it's certainly going to be a bummer for users of applications that are based on these SDKs. This will be interesting...

@lenzgr @slink Yeah, obviously it's a bit of a bummer for third party implementations, but: it really only bites if people update without any chance of going back and afaict you did implement a switch to turn it off, so ... i don't see the problem ... ?

@theuni @slink looks like it, but will application users always be able to change this setting? I have no idea.

@lenzgr @slink Just to make sure I'm not reading the link wrong - we still can get back compatibility (for the time being) if the application leverages the WHEN_REQUIRED setting, right?
