   @alexmorse I think this is a fair point.

   But.

   I think there is also a point to be made that our local arts and culture need support, and foreign-owned media might not prioritize them, instead showing Hollywood dreck.

   Or that local political and cultural issues require discussion and debate, that foreign-owned media won't host.

   There are ways to require foreign-owned media companies to comply, but without actually having to live with the consequences, it might be hard to make them care.

     @evan banning foreign media is an admission your population is too uneducated to consume media safely.

     Which is absolutely true in the US.

     OR you don't want your population deprogrammed from your own propaganda.

     Which is also absolutely true in the US.

     I understand their fear, it's well deserved.
