Parental abuse is not limited to classic forms (physical, sexual, psychological, verbal) and to ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences). It includes all forms of overprotectiveness, instrumentalization of the child, and disallowing the child to develop boundaries, separate, and individuate.

@Sherri_Ingrey I saw this with my cousin and tried to explain this to my parents who saw him as a bit of a joke. He was unable to do even the most basic tasks as an adult because he had never been allowed to try in case he failed. Because he had to be perfect and amazing at everything. He couldn't be seen to fail so he couldn't learn.

@KeepTakingTheSoma I have seen a lot more boys like that than girls though, tbh. I remember my cousins let their boys FO when it was time to clear up after a massive family dinner, but the girls still at least had to clear scrape and stack.
