I only really use my Switch for exclusives but damn the Switch 2 looks real nice just as a physical thing. Less fiddly joycons with hall effect sticks, nicer screen (I had the OG not the OLED) and a new Mario - lets face it I'll be getting one https://www.nintendo.com/successor/en-gb/index.html
@kojack I can't imagine they won't be. They've had to pay so much for the free joycon refurb program they'd be mad not to. It was kind of implied in the video with the stick flourishes but yeah I don't have concrete confirmation
@sinbad Even the PS5's DualSense 5 controller is still old school potentiometer sticks. MS, Sony, Nintendo and Meta all have potential problems with stick drift (although Nintendo is more infamous for it).
I'm just pessimistic about any of the big companies moving to hall effect or tunneling magnetoresistance. But it would be nice if they do.
@sinbad I have OG and use it everyday. This would be a massive update, IF it's not massively heavier (the Steam Deck is not a handheld but a small laptop -- won't someone think of the children and other smallish people?!). I'm cautiously optimistic! Wish they'd open their dev access so people can tinker but that's a HUGE step for them -- like embracing the internet, which they did 10 years after everyone else and weirdly. 😹
@sinbad@kojack I'm sure they *can* make/use good potentiometers, I've still got all my old game cube controllers and not one has drift over a decade of use. Couldn't say the same for any of my switch controllers. *Yelling at clouds* back in my day!!!
