@IAMAL_PHARIUS can't use just any to move military gear, they structurally won't hold it. China has been building them so they can, legally civilian operators have to do so as well as make them available for military exercises occasionally (even though it is a dog shit idea)
@special-boy@IAMAL_PHARIUS specifically the chinese require the larger civi RoRos to have at least one ramp and deck that can handle MBTs. When they do their invasion exercises they actually pull these ones out of service to train with em the bigger issue imo is using a large, slow, high radar cross section unified deck design prone to free surface effect to invade an island with one of the largest harpoon stockpiles in the world, as well as their own home grown (and quite excellent) stuff. sub, super and hypersonic
@Paultron@IAMAL_PHARIUS all car ferries ive ever been on have been fast as fuck otherwise yes but also you can claim that your opponent is commiting warcrimes if they sink one by pretending that it was not on a military mission
@Paultron@IAMAL_PHARIUS isnt much military gear just large cars? and plenty of them, i doubt theyd have trouble finding shit that fits on the normal ferries and needs moving over quickly.
@special-boy@IAMAL_PHARIUS there may be ferries that are p quick compared to normal shipping but they generally do not break 16 knots or so even on the faster runs, and can maybe make 18 at a push. which is p good but 'not horribly slow' for a military vessel starts at 26 kts imo
