   Folks Pixelfed is getting slammed.

   Since Meta started blocking links to Pixelfed it seems the world has discovered this wonderful public Instagram alternative picture sharing social media application (see Striesand effect).

   But things that are public, rely on us to fund them. @dansup does not have a bunch of VC billionaires writing big checks for more server capacity.

   If you can spare a few dollars to support public social media, right now is the time to do so!

     From looking at the funding options seems like the simplest way to send #Pixelfed a one-time donation is this link:

     Would also encourage becoming a recurring subscriber, using any preferred method, but now is the time to rush them some money to tackle this wave.

     @mastodonmigration @dansup this is also likely a surge of people migrating from TikToks imminent ban. If you aren't following in TikTok, there is some sentiment of never Meta, bluesky not being quite the right fit, Neptune as an interesting future (creator payment friendly afaic), and Red Note as a protest move

     Apparently, it was a 'mistake'...
