@f4grx @scherzog @voxel There is a big rewrite in background (since years) lead by the dev Wolthera, with news on Krita-artist forum. A lot of the backend is already in Krita (without user noticed the shift) and the new GUI part is in work (path on text is part of it). But also font selection, psd text support, emojis, better RTL, etc..Etc..

      Text Tool Thread
Ok, so, it’s been a month. The text properties docker branch got merged. However… it is still very buggy, with all sorts of UI paper cuts all over the place. As said before, I need to polish everything now. If you are going to test it, note that right now, in the text tool, if you have no selection you are editing paragraph wide properties, and if you have a selection you’re editing properties in that range. We’re not particularly happy with this interaction mechanism just yet, and my hope i...

@scherzog @voxel ah, ok. I have immense respect for krita as it's probably supported by the artists using it, and they know better what is critical for them. there are usable workaround for the moment, complex text support will probably come when the time is right. meanwhile it's good to know that the issues are logged somewhere.

@f4grx @voxel text tool improvements have been votable in fundraisers in the past but never got much traction despite being a well known pain point for ages, see e.g. https://krita.org/en/posts/2018/and-so-the-fundraiser-ends/ :(

        And so the Fundraiser Ends
Yesterday was the last day of the developers sprint^Wmarathon, and the last day of the fundraiser. We're all good and knackered here, but the fundraiser ended at a very respectable 26,426 euros! That's really awesome, thanks everybody!

@davidrevoy @voxel @krita Thanks, David! it's surprising that krita has no built in tool for that (yet!).

@f4grx @voxel @krita My own solution was more like a big workaround (for all the pattern in circle from the shop https://www.peppercarrot.com/en/files/eshop.html ):
      - I exported a flat image projection of my Krita stack as a PNG file aside my KRA.
      - I opened this PNG file with Inkscape, made all the text with it, saved as SVG.
      - then I hidden the background on my SVG, and exported the Inkscape text as PNG.
      - On my Krita stack I put the PNG as a "file layer", so at least it auto update when I re-export the the SVG.
