L'équipe de développement du logiciel @Mastodon annonce deux changements majeurs à venir :
* La création d'une nouvelle entité à but non-lucratif dans l'Union Européenne
* Le transfert de la gouvernance d'"éléments-clé" du logiciel Mastodon à cette nouvelle entité, qui ne seront plus entre les seules mains d'Eugen Rochko ( @Gargron ).
Mastodon repasserait donc entièrement sous pavillon européen, après son passage décrié par les États-Unis (uniquement pour la réception des dons, suite au non-renouvellement de son agrément non-profit par l'Allemagne ; le logiciel restait hébergé en Europe).
