We are in the middle of a record year of global temperature. This may be a coincidence for this particular fire but we can expect as temperatures increase to see more fires like this.
@jeffcliff It is the massive population density living here along the Cali coast, an edge of the world overlooking the Pacific...it has all been built out so crazy, I've lived in coastal socal since 1996.
There used to be ranches, large open plant nursery areas, or simply patches of open land with trees...all that is gone now for more McMansion monstrosities or apartment complexes.
Some tract home projects, a person can literally jump from rooftop to rooftop. It was poor city planning to allow such communities to be built.
> Global warming ain't the issue when it has been 32F during these Winter mornings here.
32F? you poor muffin. "Wet bulb temperatures rising beyond human capacity to stand it all in increasing amounts of places but in my little area of the world it's only T-shirt weather" this is so stupid

@jeffcliff Global warming ain't the issue when it has been 32F during these Winter mornings here. Native American Indians have dealt with Santa Ana Winds dropping humidity to near nothing, and having to do wildfire management for millennia.
