   It's actually wild how different my comment sections are on Instagram and TikTok compared to my partners, his are happy and fun and mine are just toxic and alt right leaning

   I think it's important that we don't overuse algos to encourage these harmful/toxic bubbles of reinforced hate or the like.

   I am organizing a Pixelfed Algorithm Oversight Committee to help ensure we use For You algos in a healthy and sustainable way, with the ability to make changes based on your feedback!

     and the crazy thing is I never use IG or TikTok, so why they are pushing that alt right content is probably based on my location (Alberta, Canada) and just goes to show how dangerous this type of algo can be

     @dansup it would be awesome if the algorithm that is used, has user transparency to a degree of letting users control and share their own configs for that algorithm.

     Most will stay in the defaults, but this might let different communities find their own defaults. It would also provide a meaningful connection for users to that oversight committee in a way that doesn’t exist in big social.

     (Thinking out loud as much as anything here!)

     @dansup Imo this is where user controls might be a nice humane middle ground. I personally like how right now I see a diverse amount of things on Loops, Some I might care about, some I may not but thats the beauty what dealing with humans tis supposed to be like that although I realize many users may not think like this and may want something more curated. Its okay if you make those changes. So long as we can maintain options for user and avoid falling for the same the dark patterns
