   Here’s a suggestion:

   (Re-)insurance companies could lawyer up, and sue the living daylights out of the fossil fuel industry.

   Governments could help by making laws that enable this.

     @slothrop on the other hand: a lot of insurers are directly invested in fossil energies and have little incentive to hurt their investments.

     Both parties have powerful lobbies, so seeing that pay out *would* be interesting.

     However, the capitalists will just partner up and fuck over the little guy, so nothing will come of this, I fear.

     @Laird_Dave Yes, that’s definitely the more likely outcome.

     However: Reinsurers like Swiss Re or Munich Re have long been relatively public about the likely costs of the climate disaster. As they should - it’s core to their financial performance.
