Lenovo is planning to ditch the pointing-device and physical mice keys from future ThinkPads in a bid to make the ThinkPad line "more appealing to younger audiences".

@adiz young people don't buy thinkpads because of the presence of those things but because they probably don't know or thinkpads are too expensive for them. I think a redesign could help (while keeping the black+red aesthetic and the other things that make the thinkpads be, well, thinkpads), and focus on good hw support so they can rival macbooks in terms of aesthetics, feel and performance/battery life.

@mischievoustomato The pointing device and physical mice keys array is the only reason I buy ThinkPad. If Lenovo ditches those from the line to make ThinkPads just like literally any other laptop on the market I would never buy another ThinkPad. There are much better (from hardware & price) laptops out there, but what keeps me buying ThinkPads are that they are ThinkPads.
