    Trying to order something on a website was not working at the payment step, I tried everything like removing the accent in my name, changing my delivery address, paying with different cards, changing delivery method.

    The phone support told me I should see with my bank, but offered to generate an order with a link to pay, so we tried this and it didn't work.

    Then, after a second call, I've been told that it was certainly my bank because they spent 10 minutes investigating and they do not block anything, and just at the end, they told me that I should try with a @gmail.com address because they have a system that may block orders from "suspicious addresses". I changed my email to something else (not gmail.com though :D ) and it worked

    -_-

    Who decided there that gmail.com addresses are more legit than others? Most of the scam I receive is sent from gmail :flan_molotov: :flan_bored:

      @lpwaterhouse unfortunately I don't have much choice in the current case.

      @solene Guess they *really* don't want your business. I always consider it fortunate when they so openly admit it, makes it easier to add to my never-do-business-with list :-)

      @solene that was probably the same idiot who decided that I shouldn't be using Firefox anymore to do my monthly payments to my health care provider (like I have done for the last 23 years) and that they wouldn't accept any new payments unless I make them using Chrome/Chromium ..

      @gnemmi @solene at Guix I spawn a container with icecat (ffox) to just enable the bare minimum propietary JS to use my goverment software. I refuse to call these 'web pages'.

      @solene yeah .. I know .. I had to create a new user and install Chromium only to be able to pay my monthly fee to my health care provider ..

      I mean .. really, who do they think they are? Who the hell invested them with power to force me to accept the TOC of any given software product from any given vendor, only to fulfill my obligations?
      What if tomorrow they decide I can only pay via WhatsApp or any other scam prone tech?

      @karadoc I used a mail address that is not gmail and it worked fine, it's just that the domain I was using initially (an alias service) was blocked silently

      @solene That's seriously messed up.

      This is one of the kinds of problems that can appear when certain products become dominant. And it further entrenches the power of mega-corps. I hate it.
