     Good question, given that the other NATO members put together don't have the firepower to win against the US. So yes, a civil war in the US would be thinkable.

     @djr2024 Not entirely sure the comparison makes sense, Nazi Germany during those times attacked plenty of allies .. and was not part of NATO, or any system of reasoning. US is in a very different position where only the idiot at top is a turd (Germany during WWII was a very different place)

     There were informal pressures to prevent #greece and #turkiye going to war with each other - as they came close to at times in the 1960s and 1970s. these worked - in part because the #us was behind the policy and also because the two had a very rough military parity. I do not think there was an actual clause. The last country to attack an ally while still in formal alliance with it was #germany attacking #hungary in the summer of 1944 .
