   One of the bad habits of the left that keeps me from placing my trust in much of the left, is its propensity to make excuses for the parts of the public who support fascists. These excuses usually take on some variation of "the working class is experiencing hard times and so, they were lead to support [fascist political party]."

   The bulk of POC and queer working class people don't support [fascist political party] even in the worst of times and there's a reason for that. We're their targets.

     @timberwraith I don't think it's so much an excuse as it is just a basic fact of human nature.

     Throughout world history, across countries, across empires, it's just a fact that authoritarianism thrives in times of economic hardship.

     Doesn't make it right, but I don't think it's so much an active choice as it is just part of our nature as a species. Just like how the people on the Titanic didn't give a shit who drowned as long as they got their asses into a lifeboat.

     @uint8_t @timberwraith I honestly wish it were that simple, but it's not.

     Biden did the impossible. He turned Trump into a truth teller, just by virtue of being such an awful president for workers that Trump didn't have to lie about Biden's record.
