   Regularly pestering the (very nice) chairperson of the board of my condominium about #EnergyEfficiency definitely achieved something. Thermostats were installed on all radiators for this heating season. Heating costs went down so much that our monthly fees for December were completely cancelled. I keep the thermostats at level 1 (out of 3) and my apartment is now at 16 °C. Last year I was often at 22 °C even with all radiators off, due to overheated staircases and downstairs shops.

     The staircase is still at 19 °C so there's still room for improvement. It should be 17 °C tops. We can probably reduce our heating by another 10 % with some simple tweaks in the pressure etc. (planned for later in this season, IIRC).

     @Life_is Yes it's incredible that many buildings here still have no thermostats. Italy is similar to Germany in this regard. Finland is very different because of the cheap district heating.

     Thermostate sind in Deutschland seit Jahrzehnten Pflicht. Ebenso massive Isolierung der Gebäude und doppelt- oder dreifachverglasung der Fenster.

     Leider hat das nicht zu einem boom für Wärmepumpen, Solarzellen und ÖPNV geführt, sondern im Gegenteil dazu dass eAutos nicht gekauft werden (wenn es dafür keine hohen Subventionen gibt), Gasheizungen neu gekauft werden und Subventionen für Gas gefordert werden, und Subventionen für Wärmepumpen nur wenig abgerufen werden. "Balkonsolaranlagen" werden in grossstädten in Mietwohnungen fast garnicht installiert, obwohl gesetzlich begünstigt. ÖPNV wird zur Einhaltung der schuldenbremse reduziert. Neue Autobahnen werden gebaut. Die Reperatur der Bahninfrsstruktur verzögert sich unter anderem, weil eine neuwahl wichtiger ist als haushaltsentscheidungen für die Bahn.
