I care very much about "politics" because politics care about me in the most toxic and dangerous ways possible.

I care less about elections since electing capitalists who all work for rich fascists is how we ended up in a fascist nightmare on a boiling planet run by nazi billionaires.

And I get that it's hard for some people to understand the difference between those things because they truly believe they're the same thing; but they aren't.

And like, right now some of you are screaming in your head "you can't say they're the SAME" but I never said that; that's a binary you've been taught to reduce to that only serves to protect rich capitalists and their minions.

What I'm saying is the ultimate outcome is the same: a boiling planet, where billions of people die for capital, protected and enforced by fascist security states and the disempowering of everyday people who don't WANT to die for rich nazis.

      The destination is the same.

Folks keep acting surprised when the "liberal" capitalists they support to "oppose fascism" adopt fascist policies and make decisions that harm their own base on behalf of ruling class nazis who're filthy rich.

But I'm not surprised, and I'm not surprised because capitalism is boiling the planet, and billions of ppl are gonna die, and folks aren't going to go willingly to their graves for rich nazis to profit. There's only so many ways to maintain that reality, and fascism is high on that list.

Once you understand that rich nazis are nazis because that's how they keep burning the planet for profit even as billions die, that's the type of society that allows it, it becomes incredibly easy to understand why the politicians they own, regardless of stated ideological position, are invariably going to turn to fascism. There is more or less no other way to keep doing capitalism on a boiling planet while billions die.

So I'm not that interested in debating which flavor of genocide you prefer

At the end of the day, fascists and neoliberals have more in common with each other, than they do with me. They both believe some should live, and some should die. That some deserve to rule in opulence, and some deserve to toil in misery for that opulence. Both have acceptable sacrifices. Both have hierarchies of power based on wealth. They disagree about how to identify who is who on the surface, but if you dig down you find they're mostly putting the same types of people in each bucket.

Capitalism is built on unequal hierarchies, exploitation, slavery, the looting of our common environments, and the violence necessary to maintain those things. It can't exist without various forms of supremacy, without the idea that some people matter and some people don't, and in a society built on hundreds of years of inequality and theft of generational wealth, someone who divides who is who by wealth, is going to name the same acceptable sacrifices as someone who does it by race and culture.

Neither of these people are my friends; so expecting them to help me, and not the rich nazis who own them, is illogical. Doesn't really matter who I vote for; much in the same way it doesn't matter whether or not I buy chocolate or strawberry ice cream - it's still ice cream.

@craignicol I don't believe an informed populace organizing and agitate for better policies is enough to change that trajectory. Either we're going to end capitalism, or we're all going down with the ship - and that will never be on the ballot.

@AnarchoNinaWrites elections are necessary but not sufficient for democracy. Without an informed populace organising and agitating for better policies, politicians will happily take the money and dig our graves.

There is no way around those realities; at the end of the day the planet is on fire, capitalism is the culprit, billions of people are going to die, those people are not going to die WILLINGLY so rich people can keep extracting profit, and thus it will (and already does) require the application of force to maintain this system even as it touches of multiple genocides. Ergo as long as your leaders are committed to capitalism, they are committed to what any reasonable person would call fascism.

You can dress it up in whatever words you want, and believe me your leaders are going to provide you with many pretty words and a myriad of excuses for why I'm wrong and this is just how it has to be - that's more or less their function within the system.

You cannot change those realities; capitalism goes, or we do, and clearly regardless of stated ideological positions within that construct, capitalist leaders have decided that we're acceptable sacrifices. It all leads to the same place.

@jstatepost I'm sorry; I wish I could express to you how badly I've wanted to be wrong about all of this, but that's how it is and I am very bad at pretend.

A revolution to end capitalism, will be inherently political. It will not however be an "election." And given that the entire structure of our "democratic" systems precludes the possibility of ending the capitalism that's burning our planet and will kill billions, indeed is prepared to employ horrific violence for the express purpose of preventing that outcome, ending the capitalism that's killing us, I've merely decided to stop pretending.

It's not that I don't care about "politics."
