It's not a coincidence that Ro's claiming to want the thing he's specifically set out to destroy.
That's basically step one of the reactionary's toolkit.

That's basically step one of the reactionary's toolkit.
But also, and I can't over-state this, Ro is an incredibly insecure little dude.
A normal fifty year old man doesn't spend a year obsessing over an instance admin, because somebody on their mod team made a vague criticism of the genre of website he runs.
Imagine taking a break from social media to clear your head, only to then double down on your plan of stalking and harassing trans people in the middle of a global crackdown against trans civil rights.
This is a subpost of Ro. Who's an exceptionally pathetic coward.
"The goal is for people to be free."
"I want communities to decide on their own terms who gets access to their spaces and who doesn’t with tools they can control and manage rather than rely on a faceless mod team or ineffective systemic curation."
It's telling that Ro's claimed goals are the exact opposite of what he's actually doing.
Ro is implementing an ineffective, faceless mod tool outside of the control of fedi users.
Queer communities decide on their own terms who gets access to their spaces, with tools that they control.
That is why fedi is safer for queer communities than any other social media.
Centralized blocklists take that control out of the hands of communities, and hand it over to (in this case) somebody who openly fantasizes about murdering queer people with baseball bats.
