Even I, a fairly cynical person, am surprised at the shamelessness with which business executives and news editors alike are groveling before Trump.
I realize bribery is age-old and leaders always have to negotiate with power, but this is something else. These are people who think they’re tough, think they’re special, think they’re a breed above the ordinary.
I would have assumed that their own •egos• would have prevented them from engaging in such naked, self-debasing, pathetic displays of submission. But no.
Say what you will about Steve Jobs, who was an insufferable asshole in so many ways — but at least he was an asshole with half a spine. Can you imagine him crawling on all fours and barking like a dog because Trump said to? I can’t, and that’s more than I can say for this current crop of quislings.
@inthehands I agree. And I would look at it differently.
It is cheap. They are used to bribe people. This is just another normal business expense. They thing *he* is the one debasing himself by needing their money to prop himself up. The same way they would look at a homeless person.
