We have been watching "Humans" (2015), the UK remake of the Swedish "Äkta människor" (2012, "[Real Humans]"), and we're just about coming up on the last episode.
The Swedish one was surprisingly well-produced for a Swedish sci-fi, but the UK one is simply Very Good Sci-Fi and Very Good TV.
I can absolutely understand if people appreciate the atmosphere of the Swedish one, but generally I'd say watch the UK one first. If you liked that one *and* you like Scandinavian TV, watch the Swedish one after that. It's worth watching both, they're not at all the same story, and they're both good in their own way.
A remake often gets called unnecessary, watered down, etc, but this one really is a reimagining of the original rather than a weak copy, and it's a superior one at that.
The pacing is better, the number of characters has been reduced, several meandering side stories have been removed, and several new, very good elements and characters have been added. It goes hard, it is intense, it goes further, it asks more pointed questions, it is more epic.
The Swedish one is 2×10 episodes, the UK one is 3×8 episodes, and they diverge pretty much from the start. Series 2 and 3 of the UK one don't really have any corresponding plotlines in the original.
