     @lss @deadheat @romin It will never be the "year of the Linux desktop", as Linux is only a kernel that doesn't operate on its own.
     
     The year of the GNU/Linux desktop was in 1995 or so, as finally it was possible to use a recent computer in freedom again - alas that freedom was ripped away with the first proprietary program added to Linux in 1996.

     Of course you can usually get a copy gratis, but that isn't why it was written.
