   @malte are you familiar with historical periods in countries where extended rule by an elected official undermined democracy? A classic example is the Porfiriato in Mexico, which lasted over 30 years:

   Entrenched governments tend to embed informal networks that become extremely powerful and hard to oust over time.

     @evan I'm 21 or more. Idealistically, I don't see a limit. The more dysfunctional the country is, the less mature and democratic the society is, the more likely the leadership will have the wrong motives to be there, the fewer years the leadership should be in place to prevent tyrannical consolidation of power. The more mature and democratic the society is, the less crucial the leader becomes and the higher maximum number of years it can stay there.
