Despite erroneously describing longtime Donald Trump loyalist Linda McMahon's time running the WWF/WWE as including the role of "professional wrestler," this piece from The Intercept does effectively demonstrate the cronyism inherent in politics, not least in Trump's America: https://theintercept.com/2024/12/30/linda-mcmahon-trump-education-schools-wwe/

Linda McMahon Has No Education Experience Except Wanting to Defund Public Schools
      from Jessica Washington
Linda McMahon’s most important qualification is being a longtime Trump loyalist — and she’ll carry out his vision to gut the Department of Education.

And while WWE's flagship Monday Night Raw show switches to Netflix, and that very same streaming service also ran the "Mr McMahon" series exposé shedding just a little more light on the decades of horrific abuse by the McMahons, don't be convinced that the culture of that company is by any means clean today, despite Vince's departure: https://www.postwrestling.com/2024/12/30/opinion-what-lee-fittings-hiring-says-about-the-new-wwe-and-nick-khan/

Opinion: What Lee Fitting’s hiring says about the new WWE and Nick Khan - POST Wrestling | Podcasts, News, Reviews | WWE AEW NXT NJPW
        from Brandon Thurston
Lee Fitting's hiring would be questionable enough if this wasn't WWE President Nick Khan's first hiring of an executive with a history of alleged sexual misconduct, and if Khan hadn't expressed loyalty to Vince McMahon after he returned in 2023.

@fkamiah17 That definitely takes some beating, but I'm sure McMahon will try her best, sadly.

@MediaActivist Didn't Betsy de Vos already beat her to that crown?

@MediaActivist Very disappointed that they didn't include the fact that Donald #Trump is a #WWE Hall-of-Famer.

@MediaActivist If Linda thought she had a degree in education could me a couple of things: (1.) She's getting senile in her old age and doesn't remember shit; (2.) He degree in French is so long ago that she coudl use that degree to teach French (what else does one do with a degree in French?) so it might well have been called a French Education degree if she got it in 2024, (3.) she meant to lie. From what I know of Linda I suspect the last is the least likely. I wouldn't expect anyone who has a history in government education, like a teacher, princple etc., would be on board with shaking up the status quoe at all, so if you want to defund the department of education you wouldn't want to hire someone with such a history as your man. The thing is, if you really want to defund government education, getting rid of the department of educatoin doesn't actually do that. I for one believe in eliminating government education. I would much rather workers teach what is actually needed thmeselves, run democaratically with the students, etc., but the Republican plan only re-arranges the deck chairs. They actually don't cut any funding to the crappy government school down the street, they are just changing the fudning mechanisms for how they get there, and they've got liberals all up in arms about it.
