>having a job le BAD! (self inflicted) boring bugman life is worse than hell!
Some people would get a better perspective about life if they had to worry about starving to death, or had to deal with painful debilitating health issues

@deadheat Having to serve a master is indeed "le bad".
The government doesn't let their property starve themselves to death if they know about such starvation.
Sure, things could be far worse than being a wagie bugman, but things could be better.

@deadheat >his everyday life routine >coding on his computer
If that's rather programming on GNU, that's not torture.
Being stuck in proprietary software would be one of the worst possible forms of torture of course.

@Suiseiseki The context to this: there is a game where the main character has an anime girl companion app on his cell phone, and he uses it everyday to talk to the anime girl, clean her apartment, buy her gifts, hear how much she likes him, etc. At a certain point, the anime girl becomes sentient and magically drags him inside the app on his phone. The story of the game is the character trying to escape back to the real world.
At a certain point, the anime girl tries to convince the main character to stay in the game by making the player experience and play his everyday life routine, which is basically only getting up from bed, eating noodles, coding on his computer and going back to bed, in a very boring and repetitive segment meant to torture the player. The image in the OP is a screenshot from that segment. This game has become popular so people are talking about its themes.
What I said in the OP is valid both for people who don't know how good they have in life and the bugman wagie, but they are not necessarily the same. I think smart productive people can and should avoid an urbanite bugman existence, the urbanite bugman is actually socialized into that path. There's also the redditor communist types who wish other people served as their slaves under a communist system, but their problem is that they are evil and not the lack of a better perspective.

@deadheat the only message @Suiseiseki will take from your essay is that proprietary anime girl apps are evil

@hakui I see the point, but I have no further comment on it, but I had a comment on one part.

@hakui @Suiseiseki To be fair, are you really a free software extremist if you don't even derail threads to promote GNU and denounce proprietary software

@deadheat @hakui When the rails are to proprietary hell, of course you would derail the thread onto the GNU/rails.
