i’m reading Talia Lavin’s Wild Faith and i’m double convinced nothing can be done to change evangelical christian’s views on anything ever. there’s no fighting for acceptance or equality or anything at all. it is what it is.

I remember when Divorce was a big issue. If you got divorced, you left the church. No fault divorce went through the church like a forest fire. The pews emptied out. In desperation, the evangelicals called the divorced "singles" and put in Sunday School classes 'n everything for them.
Their opposition to gays in the congregation is mostly gone, too.
