Heh. They most certainly do change their minds - I'm a child of fourth generation missionaries, pastors and suchlike.
I remember when Divorce was a big issue. If you got divorced, you left the church. No fault divorce went through the church like a forest fire. The pews emptied out. In desperation, the evangelicals called the divorced "singles" and put in Sunday School classes 'n everything for them.
Their opposition to gays in the congregation is mostly gone, too.
