   I had a weird moment at a writing workshop. The instructor strongly recommended a book by an author I went to school with and who was absolutely awful to me. The author is an excellent writer, but it's hard to read anything by them without remembering how vile they they were to me and another friend. #WritingCommunity

     Several years ago, I applied to a writing programme. While reading up on the programme, I learned that the nasty author in question had been an instructor at that school. If they were still teaching there, I wouldn't have completed the application. Here's hoping I won't have to interact with them again. Canada's writing community isn't THAT big, but I'm a genre writer and they are not, so maybe I'll get lucky.
