   In this 5th year of Covid my wife will once again be nurse double shifting both Christmas and New Years due to staff illness & disease breakout among residents requiring more nurses to adequately care. All the while her employer restricting PPE AND demanding less overtime due to 'costs'

   The disconnect is staggering

     🤬 There’s a lot to be angry about here…but what struck me first was…restricting PPE. In a healthcare setting? What the hell is wrong with people? Staggering disconnect indeed.

     @KimberlyN @MatWright I never really did understand why healthcare settings were not only willing to go along with anti-mask sentiments, but even actually willing to *decrease* masking. As in not requiring masking around patients that they would have before...

     It's completely antithetical to their very nature... Healthcare that is pro-disease instead of pro-health?

     @ericjanusson oh, she's being doing that for over 2 years now, and files for compensation every month, which always get rejected, then files a union grievance who simply say claim it on taxes (useless twats) - then we fight with Revenue Canada every year as 'company should provide' - and spend months re-filing the compensation and rejection letters until they eventually give in

     it's a circle jerk on health care workers, and they wonder why it's hard to recruit

     @MatWright Bring in your own PPE, regardless. Not worth getting sick or hurt. Hopefully, you can claim it after the buying freeze - keep the receipts.

     @MatWright Restricting PPE is unacceptable. Your safety is most important and your employer should always prioritize it.

     I know you can't just quit, but please wear full gear if, you can: face shield, butyl apron, gloves, and a P100 respirator. It's a small investment for your invaluable and extremely appreciated lives. You save lives every day and shouldn't need to risk your own.

     At least then, you're safe. We, the patients, would prefer it that way.
