   Everyone's on here this week saying, don't push to prod on a Friday, don't push to prod before holidays, don't push to prod because something or something else or tomorrow is special but tomorrow is always special for someone somewhere, if going to prod is an anxiety spigot any day it's an anxiety spigot every day. Fix _that_.

   I wonder how long this industry's idea of "engineering" is going to be "test the happy path and plan B is superstition". FFS grow up and talk to the aviation people.

     @mhoye The only reliable way I've found to make those deployments less anxious is to do them all the freaking time. It's not “our big push before the end of the year”. It's “the 11:23AM push after this PR merges”.

     If your CI/CD doesn't give you faith that your deploy will be fine, you should figure out why that is and address it.

     @tek Yeah, I think as a practical matter the fact of it is that you're always testing in prod anyway, the only question is whether or not you know that and get anything from it.

     Pain avoidance is endemic, when the solution is pain reduction.

     My approach to audits is always "we are prepared for an audit at any time." Yeah, each auditor has their own form, but mgmt could ask for documents at any time and they were up-to-date.
