   Shitnexus ActivityPub server is being revamped as multi-user, but without the concept of an "instance", simply multi-tenant.
   
   I am envisioning every user will have their own sqlite database. If you want to export your data, it will just let you download your database file instantly.
   
   Your data will be able to be automatically replicated to another server so you can re-home your nomadic identity instantly.
   
   I am hoping I'll get to work on it a whole bunch in the next week.
   
   Old codebase for learning is being jettisoned, starting from scratch based on things learned.

     @pwm it was pointed out that this isn't really decentralization, what I was referring to is the decoupling of identity and content storage, so like decentralization of concerns. in a sense dns is decentralized because you can have a wide variety of choices where to register and host your name, so it shares some decentralization traits with fediverse. in other ways obviously dns is very centralized as it's controlled by one umbrella organization, and is hierarchical

     @pwm I am implementing a similar system to the Streams server with nomadic identity. In addition to your main server, every time you post, it is replicated to one or more other servers. At any time you can direct people to one of the replicas and start posting your main there and all your posts are retained. if main server dies before you can migrate then people just follow your new one.
     
     This isn't directly compatible with Pleroma and inferior alternatives. I will be constructing a facade server for compatibility with regular Fedi servers, but between other decentralized ones like Streams it should just work.

     @sun So it will work more like current migrations, but you get a complete data dump that can just be taken to your new host to make sure everything goes with?
     If that export/import gets standardized (supported by you and someone else at least), I like that.
     
     I was just wondering if you hacked in some sort of cryptographic identifier on top of/in parallel to AP actor ids that allowed easier movement than praying the migration process isn't broken server-side in both softwares

     @pwm the data dump is just, well I am gonna try to make this so you can have a local copy of your data if you want it and it doesn't fail 100% of the time like Pleroma or take an hour like Mastodon.
