@marius Not this frequent. The middle-aged internet could route around damage, whether government censorship or physical trauma. This internet is weak and dying. This isn't what it's supposed to be.
@AshChapelsGhost@marius Previous outages were single server or site based. Now multiple unrelated sites go down when a cloud service has a hiccup, or when a common login portal breaks. The infrastructure has been consolidated.
That centralization is also enabling censorship and deplatforming. If people aren't spreading out on the fediverse, and a few sites attract enough attention, and they buy hardware or networking from the same company, they can be taken down. Not every site owner will be as tenacious as Null fighting to keep Kiwi Farms up.
