    Huh.

The hat #Felix is wearing in the #LouisVuitton promo video is the same hat that I made for my person earlier this year. I liked the design so much that I made it again for my secret Santa recipient this month.

I wonder how much the Louis Vuitton version costs

(Also now I'm thinking of making the same hat again in powder blue, and making a spoof version of a LV label to sew onto it)

This is the pattern I used, although I knit another 4 cm or so in length so it could have a deeper turned-up edge. And it seems LV had the same idea 😁

    And here's Felix's video

hmm wait I'm wrong, it's not quite the same. Felix's beanie is a 1x1 rib I think?? might even be a twisted rib although I'm not sure.

The pattern I linked to is 2x2 rib. Which I usually prefer because I think it looks neater and it's also the most versatile in terms of elasticity

ah yep here's a better shot, definitely 1x1 rib

and to be fair, it's easier to get 1x1 rib to look neat in machine knitting than it is in hand knitting

but i'd rather have a hand knit every time

anyway I miiiiight be looking at the Bendigo Woollen Mills site yet again because I am a sucker for their yarns

What do you reckon, shadow or moonflower?

I think shadow is probably a better match, but I like the name moonflower better :D

@lookitmychicken It always make me want to facepalm when Big Brands sell items that are super basic patterns but they put a huge price tag... Bonus when someone with experience in the specific craft can look and go "this part is done badly". (But hey, it means you can do better at least ^^b)

@lookitmychicken ... gosh. Of course. But still, GODDAMN.

(I used to see that for friendship bracelets, not the "made from beads and shared at concerts" type, the "knotted with thread" kind. Some years they get mainstream and we see Big Brands slapping a charm with their logo on a badly made basic pattern and sell it 100+ euros, while all the fabulous makers around me are told 16€ is too expensive for bracelets that are way more complex, with a better quality, and personalized to the buyer... We tried to laugh about it but it's still facepalm inducing.)

Apparently it is grey, not powder blue, so I guess there is some colour grading happening in that video

So I will get the Shadow colorway for my version

@LeGaosaure I thought, okay, maybe the materials are more high-end??

The LV version is indeed 100% cashmere, which is more expensive than wool.

But even if it was qiviut (way more expensive than cashmere), the materials wouldn't cost more than $200.

      Capitalism. Ugh.
