@PharaohBender27 @paninid Contrary view: a republic has been a protofascist, antidemocratic form of government since ancient times (when it was explicitly "pseudo democracy by the ruling class", in place of actual democracy) and the sooner we realize that the better.

The founding principles were copied from bad ideas from history, but they allowed enough space for people who care to strive to improve, and we've been doing that ever since.
We need to preserve and keep making space for that.
