I migrated my Forgejo instance back to Gitea. I really should write a blog post on how to revert their database migrations.

    Forgejo sucks.

@FiLiS I've encountered a bunch of bugs that were already fixed in Gitea a long time ago. A few were around LDAP support.

It's just a worse project. Period. I wouldn't trust the people who forked it. They don't seem very competent.

@FiLiS let's be honest, the people screaming about Gitea being taken over by capitalists are mouth breathers.

The only thing they're mad about is a badly worded blog post that discusses the fact that the company behind Gitea will make customizations for clients that won't be open source.

e.g., "who gives a shit, this is the same thing companies do for BSDs and they're doing just fine"

      > it seemed to be the one to be on

propaganda by GPL maximalists and Codeberg enthusiasts. In some communities this spreads far and wide very quickly because anti-capitalism is so trendy on social media.

They are so focused on trying to make ActivityPub integration work that IMO they're neglecting everything else. Also they picked what is possibly the worst name. It's hard to type, hard to say. Painful.

@feld @drwho oh? Why does it suck? I haven't looked closely myself, but from hearing about them it seemed to be the one to be on, that's why I'm curious.

@mmu_man they forked because they misunderstood what the company behind Gitea was doing (customizations for clients that may not always be open sourced) and an obsession with jamming ActivityPub into it
