Okay I've caught up on notifications on both the fediverse and on bluesky

I expected more pushback on the points I made, that I got something technically wrong, but maybe I showed my homework too thoroughly for that

Gonna take a bath in a bit and relax. Haven't done much relaxing lately

I think one big takeaway I've seen is that more people are agreeing, okay, Bluesky isn't very decentralized. Now, do we care? Maybe it turns out we care about some of Bluesky's other stated values, or the experience it delivers, or not.

      I think that's a useful outcome.

I do think one of the parts I liked most from @bnewbold's piece was about Bluesky's values, and asking what ActivityPub and @spritely's values are

I spent a lot of time on this in the blogpost but dropped it from the social media thread because I was exhausted

I will come back to this though because I think it was too nice of a part of the exchange to leave on the floor. And it was a good opportunity for @spritely, as a team, to take some time to write down what those values are.

Grateful to @bnewbold for prompting us to do that. 💜

@mcc There's a reason I said we couldn't remove the power dynamics from the analysis

@cwebber "Decentralized" is like, a philosophical thing. An abstract architectural property. I don't think anyone really cares about decentralization *unto itself*, at least not when they're using systems instead of designing systems. Rather they want *something else*, or some cluster of something elses, which are *downstream* from decentralization. Decentralization gets you to the thing. (1/2)
