     Heh, ironically I ended up writing my own: https://hacktivis.me/git/make-initrd/

     Well, you're supposed to use -l option (flat format) of lddtree for this, then the output is comparable to bindeps.
     And I guess in my case there isn't much binaries so the slowest part is the compression (part of why I've switched bootstrap-initrd to pigz).

     @martijnbraam Also for curl and git, pretty sure you could disable some stuff compared to Alpine, at least I have both in bootstrap-initrd, that said bearssl and tiny-curl variant might help a lot of reducing dependencies.
