   TIL github has atom feeds for releases of things, e.g. https://github.com/haileys/tangara-companion/releases.atom

   I have no idea how you're supposed to find feeds without thinking "I wonder if there's a feed for this" and doing view source and searching for "rss" or "atom" in the raw html

     @emily Well… there was an era where browsers would use rel=alternate and display an RSS icon in the location bar.

     @lanodan but yes that's what I mean. the technology is mostly still there! but the thing that tells you it's there is gone and that's weird and annoying

     @emily And I'd add the RSS discovery stuff in my own browser but webkit-gtk is a bit of a labyrinth when it comes to querying the DOM so I tend to run out of interest before actually doing it.

     okay, I am now using https://code.guido-berhoerster.org/addons/firefox-addons/feed-preview/, adding a ninth extension to my set of things I only have installed because the modern web is trash

     there are several others like it out there, many of which I tried and thought were broken before I realized why they couldn't find any feeds
