     The overarching idle musing to both of those is viewing action movies as, amongst other things, propaganda vehicles for blaming economic woes on foreign influences.

     Maybe put differently, I don't believe for a second that "economic anxiety" is an excuse for fascism, but I am predisposed to believe that there's propaganda that uses economic anxiety as the entry point to radicalization pathways.

     @Canageek That's what I'm getting at, yeah. I think it's just slightly past the boom, looking at historical currency trading charts, but it certainly would have been in a boom when the script was written and when filming was going on.
