I'm tempted to buy Tales of Arise just because of this top quality lady knight. :<
However:
>Honestly I'm not that much of a weeb anymore and I might not like it
>£18.99 is still an oof price for something I might dislike (price of the "good edition" on cdkeys)
>The only game I've actually BEATEN in this depressed arc is Orbo's Oddysey (which is 3 hours)
But... but... lady knight...

@druid Maybe check a let's play?
At least art looks great, almost surprised there isn't a ton of fanarts of her on danbooru (117 pictures, which by danbooru standards isn't much).

@lanodan Only a handful of weebs even care about Tales games lol, it was like this with Berseria too even though EVERYONE was thirsty for Velvet.
A let's play might be a good idea, thanks.

@druid Interesting given that I've heard of Tales Of quite few times before and Bandai Namco isn't a small corporation.

@lanodan No offense, but you're a weeb!! I mean, so am I. Kinda.
That's the thing. That's the THING. I loved anime when I was 13, and I wish I could still love it in the same way now. To me it's emblematic of imagination itself, it offered an escape from the everyday world (which children are, rightfully, desperate for) into a world of POSSIBILITY. But I feel like, over time, that escape into possibility has become an escape into comfort - the audience has changed and the industry has changed.
So I keep thinking "Maybe I can get that feeling back?" but every time I try and watch anime these days I have a bad time. Last thing I watched was Suzume and jesus christ it was absolute deranged nonsense, I gave it a pass for the strong love theme but the whole time I was thinking "what the fuck am I doing with my life?"
The Tales games have always taken that vintage, Xenogears-esque, deadly serious faced approach to building their colourful weeb worlds and stepping back into that world for a while sounds fun.
But yes, I just really want to spend time with that lady knight. :<

@druid Yeah, I'm huge weeb but like in context so are everyone on danbooru.
And yeah… I quite get that feeling with animes sometimes, there's few I watched in my teens that I stopped rewatching because it felt off and some where I'm like "Yeah… let's not rewatch, wouldn't be the same" (like Chuunibyou demo koi ga shitai, A Certain Scientific Railgun, …).
Which is why sometimes I wish there would be more adult-oriented animes.

@lanodan I agree. I haven't seen anything like Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex or Monster for a while.
I watched a "before you buy" video on Tales of Arise and I think it's convinced me to buy it. Maybe I should stream it if I can sort Twitch out.
