   Am I literally the only person who looked at, and tried, a couple things with AI and decided welp, that's harder and more annoying than just doing it myself?

     @derickr I just keep thinking the novelty is going to wear off and people will just go back to doing things, and not just herding scripts around, but I kind of thought that would have happened by now.

     @quinn Not the only person, no, but I maintain a small quantity of empathy for demographics such as users who speak English as a second language.

     If even unreliable genAI can help such a person write a cover letter for their resumé that gets them an interview, I get it. The fact that I prefer to write my own text by 1000% doesn't change the fact that my preference is grounded in a strong English and communications education.

     @quinn For programming I think most of it is cope: Not-technicals already think that coding is a kind of "magic". Of course they're not going to respond rationally when they see a machine that can produce "magic" at will.
