   @gamingonlinux at this point the unreliability tells you all you need to know, bluesky is not worth using. With a truly federated social media, it couldn't just "go down", time to ditch bsky.

     @gamingonlinux sorry, what I mean that like it doesn't all go down, bsky has that single point of failure, the most with mastodon are just individual instances.

     @sirobsidian sure, but I've also seen entire Mastodon instances go "nah", quit and everyone is screwed - seen it happen loads of times

     @gamingonlinux @sirobsidian Yeah, but it's only your instance.

     We had a few incident ourselves, but it's never "the whole Mastodon". Bluesky on the other hand have single point of failure.

     @Flaky @partizan @sirobsidian Yeah, Mastodon is great and all, but there's probably various instances not following actual laws that could end up in some pretty hot water

     As an anecdote to add to your loads of times, I'm on this instance because my last one shut down due to terrible UK law that had recent passed. (Online Safety Bill)

     You'll probably see more of that happen to UK-hosted instances in the near future.
